Travel smart and safe! We're launching a new feature: Travel recommendations and scam warnings
We all know it – packing our bags, making plans full of expectations, and the indescribable joy of stepping off a plane or train in a completely new country. Traveling brings the most wonderful experiences, but sometimes we can be surprised by situations on the road that quickly erode the smile on our faces. Whether it's unexpected security risks or street speculators who just wait for unwary tourists.
Hello travelers!
Because we want your adventures to be filled with only great memories, we have a big news for you on our portal! We have integrated a completely new section focused on Safety, travel recommendations and the most common tourist scams into the country and city details.
What can you look forward to?
- Current risk overview: For each country, you will immediately see the overall warning level (e.g. "Exercise Increased Caution") and clear traffic lights for overall risk, violent crime or petty theft.
- Quick emergency contacts: You no longer have to Google the numbers for the police, ambulance or fire department in stress. All important local emergency lines, including the tourist police, are right at your fingertips.
- Database of verified scams: We have collected the most famous and most common tricks that local speculators try on tourists for you.
We know tricks from all over the world - even from home!
The new feature will surprise you with its detail. If you are going to exotic Thailand, for example, the system will warn you in advance about classics such as "The Grand Palace is closed today", made-up damage to rented jet skis in Phuket, or taxi drivers in Bangkok who stubbornly refuse to turn on the taxameter.
What is probably the best, however, is that we do not only protect you in exotic places. We have also taken a close look at scammers in European capitals, including cities such as tiny Bratislava in Slovakia. In the city profile, foreigners (and even unwary locals) can read about overpriced taxi services at the Main Station, exorbitant fees at Euronet ATMs in the Old Town, or the famous "champagne trap" on Hviezdoslavovo Square.
How to do it?
Just open the profile of your destination on our website. New clear panels with security data will arm you with all the information you need to defend yourself against scammers within a minute. You will know exactly what to look out for and how to react immediately.
We believe that this new gadget will make your planning easier and bring you more peace and security on the road. Explore new recommendations before your next trip and don't get caught out!
Happy and safe travels from your travel portal Travelo!
